Surxin (Sir Kzen)
The Surxin are an old tigiren sect that initially homed on a larger space station after their imperial collapse. Two centuries of those on board passed, and yet it as not suiting their lives to be 'pent up on a giant rust bucket'. The Surxin ideology formed around one old imperial folk tale of a great tigiren hero Surxos. Tales of his travels, commands, and conquered worlds spread to the young generations, and inspired a new revolution in visiting and taking on harsh planets, and coming out a survivor. This carried on until most of the space station spoke with some idea of this cultured mindset, and when reconnecting with others, they prompted their will as the Surxin people. The surxins are still said to roughly owe heritage back to that same operational massive space station, but are pioneers that ventures out with different views aimed towards besting a harsh and remote place, and coming back home tougher and better for it. Surxins fight their low gravity space station origins with buffing up their strength, exercise, and venturing and enduring harsh planets. As travelers, they've become well known as the most prominent & consistent 'warrior' tigiren across the omniverse.
Culture
Coming of Age Rites
Upon maturation, most worthy surxins travel out and dwell in harsh conditions for a solid span of time. They must write, and take pieces of the planet they stay at, and return with stories, scars, or trophies to speak of.
Funerary and Memorial customs
If the tigiren passing has offspring, the body is shaved of its fur. The fur is sealed off, while the body is fired into the vacuum of space in a coffin. The fur collected is later offered to be burned and smoked in with drugs that are said to stimulate and make its children's or trusted friends feel at peace with them, or to atone to their scent of adventures, achievements, and their current spiritual presence. This tends to be called Taking The Scent of Time.
Those who are presumed or found dead of their initial rite of adventure, are named onto a special plate and covered, given to relatives or around memorials around them. Similar fate happens to those that would earn Scent of Time ritualization, but for whatever reason their body is beyond using, such as being killed and vaporized by a hostile force. Those that never venture, never procreate, or die too early in life, are cremated entirely and considered Lost Kittens.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Surxins find attraction through action, and accomplishment. Male or female, strong and buff is desired, as well as good drinking conversations, and long stories. Surxins tend to be the partners that have a lot to say in a chill place, and a lot to work on when at a job. Males are more encouraged to be woolier in the fur, long and unkempt, while females are still expected to keep theirs clean and even short. To be considered weak in tone or physique is considered a grave insult. The only respect for those more vulnerable or resting, is for the elderly, or those retiring after a big hunt.
Gender Ideals
Hardly any. Surxins foster an idea that Tigran or Tigress can strive through the fiercest conditions, and should. Likewise, the homes should be kept well by either able person, though surxins tend to care much less about crafts and housing care.
Courtship Ideals
Surxins are more centered around monogamy, and simple gifts. A pair that stays together typically met in heartfelt conversation, and arrange marriage through simple tokens, often commemorating their first place or meeting.
