Badge of Passage

Badges of Passage through Saltor palm-sized brass-coated amulets. Their surface is covered in intricate indents and reliefs, depicting various cogs, gears, and struts. This surface can be inserted into various doors throughout Saltor to gain access, for example to the elevators in the Tower-District, the Uni-Tunnel, or the Politarium.
There are four types of Badge, differentiated by what they grant access to:

• The Commoner's Badge, granting access into and out of the City, as well as into each District barring the Politarium.
• The Scientist's Badge, granting access to the main laboratories within the University District and the Submarine District.
• The Politics Badge, granting access to the Politarium and unlimited access to the Saltor Air Harbor.
• Personal badges, granting access to otherwise locked-off rooms, essentially substituting house keys. Most people who use personal badges require access to multiple usually locked-off rooms, like working stations, laboratories, or storage spaces.
