Tower-District
The Tower-District is Saltor's heart and center. Over 50% of its population lives here, and most of the trade and festivities have its place within these towers.
The Tower-District currently consists of exactly 60 towers of heights between 300 and 600 meters, including between 80 and 200 stories. Each tower and each story within each tower has its own little sub-culture, as the closeness and the shared space makes neighborhood an important community for most Saltori. Within the tower-district, the humble roots of this metropolis are still very much visible: A bunch of people bundling together on the only dry spot left after The First Great Flood, helping out each other, and rescuing everyone by building up- instead of outwards.
The Tower-Districts individual towers are interconnected by an erratic labyrinth of bridges in varying degrees of safety and stability. Within each tower, the levels are usually interconnected by stairs and elevators, although some of the older towers forgo the later in favor of ladders.
Most stories within each tower are considered their own neighborhood, with two notable exceptions:
- The Air Tower's 46th floor is one singular hall with a height of 50 meters, protruding a few hundred meters outside of the tower (with supporting beams on other towers), and functions as the city's Air Harbor.
- Every 20th floor (base, 20th, 40th...) of every tower is reserved as a community marketplace, where everybody can bring their wares, get them valued, and walk away with an equal value of different wares.
