Point to Point Shuttle

Point to Point Shuttles or "Runabouts" are a type of Tender used to ferry small amounts of people and supplies between two ships or stations within close distances. Point To Point shuttles are generally low powered and cannot traverse interplanetary distances, unlike Tenders which can accompany a fleet on an interplanetary vector by their own power. Point to Point Shuttles also differ from Surface To Orbit Shuttles in that the former cannot escape significant gravity wells, and is usually unequipped for atmospheric reentry.   Most large military vessels and civilian space stations retain a compliment of at least one shuttle to manage personnel and supply transfers. Runabouts are usually unarmed and can range from Corvette sized to a small private shuttle that holds no more than a dozen passengers. Some privateer space forces retrofit civilian shuttles as corvette-like combat craft to harass or swarm targets.
