M165 Armored Patrol Vehicle
The M165 APV is the standard reconnaissance and patrol ground vehicle of the TASA Marine Corps. With a fully sealed crew compartment, the APV can operate in vacuums and CBRN contaminated environments. The APV is a step up from early open-topped utility rovers in service throughout the 22nd and 23rd centuries, offering considerable protection against most kinetic weaponry, high explosives and small arms. Unfortunately the latest generation of warfare has surpassed even the protective capabilities of the APV, leading to considerable losses in the early phases of the Campaign Against New Dawn. New hypervelocity kinetic weapons, more potent improvised explosives, and low-yield nuclear weapons make short work of the APV and anyone unfortunate enough to be inside.
These shortfalls have led the TASA Marine Corps to seek contracts for more resilient armored vehicles. This in turn resulted in the rapid introduction of APV replacements like the M200 Heavy Armored Ambush-Resistant Vehicle (HAARV) in combat zones. The APV continues to live on for Earthside missions such as peace keeping and police actions. Excess stocks of APVs are sold to other militaries including various TASA-alligned Terrestrial Forces and friendly Martian and Lunar militaries.
