Seas of Grain
"Seas of Grain" is an Elvish sea shanty. It originated in the ports of Enchalmida among Elvish whiskey runners, where it is still popular, though it can also be heard in ports across Belcantas.
Lyrics to the verses complain about the nature of life on sea, often from the point-of-view of a former farmer who misses life in the fields and regrets becoming a sailor. Like many elvish shanties, it is infamous for the tongue-twister nature of some of its lyrics. A number of different verses and versions exist, often improvised on the spot by mates or crew members as a call-and-response with the lines "Never go to sea!" and "Homeward bound we be!"
Seas of grain and fields of water,
Homeward bound we be!
Tell your sons and tell your daughters,
Never go to sea!
Unless they want their asses lashed to masts
With chaff like me,
And mixed betwixt the wind and waves
Till homeward bound they be.
