Kingdom Crown

The Kingdom Crown is the most common standardized currency system in Belcantas. It originated during the early spread of the Kingdom of Dreibach, but was spread by Human travelers throughout Belcantas, most notably to the Aquatic Kingdoms (where most Kingdom Crowns are minted today).

Individual denominations of the Kingdom Crown are most commonly referred to by the metals they are made of: copper pieces (or "coppers"), silver pieces, and gold pieces. Ten copper pieces are worth one silver piece, and ten silver pieces are worth one gold piece. The abbreviations cp, sp, and gp have become commonplace within the last few centuries. The platinum ithilien of Scalados and the Mithril håpeja of Erdelan are often rounded into this system, representing approximately the value of ten gold pieces and five silver pieces, respectively. (The value of a Scaladosian kyón, depending on exchange rates, is usually close enough to the value of a Kingdom Crown that they are accepted as equivalents.)
