The Edict of the Eclipse was a speech given by Sarastro and magically broadcast across the town of Breughelland on the day of the Eclipsed Wedding (10 February, Y1111).

Background

Since the founding of the Order of Sarastro on 9 April, Y1061, Sarastro has promised his followers that he will finish paving the Righteous Path through which they can achieve ultimate divine righteousness in the fiftieth year of the Order. (He and his high priests claim to have reached this number via complex numerology hidden within holy texts of Osiris and Set.)

Edict of the Eclipse

Believers of Breughelland, turn to the skies and weep, for our darkest day is upon us. In the last days of the Age of Audacity, the traitor Set descended upon King Osiris as he joined with his maiden in holy union. He destroyed the king's celestial body, and scattered its shreds to the winds. As the tears of Isis flowed to flood the Lüdda, she gathered him up, piece by holy piece, and placed them aside until Prince Horus could reform him anew.

But none could have predicted that the Set of this age would be quite so treacherous. Set was merely a brother of the Judgment King, but this destroyer is our holy son, Astradamors Nuramour, our own ascension prince. He has shunned the Glorious Way, and returned with his battalion of degenerates to flatten our shining temple and block our Righteous Path.

And he has slain my own beloved bride, my Isis on this plane. O darkest of days! It is truly a perversion of the cosmos that the heir to Osiris must take Isis's role, to gather her up and wait for her restoration. But what else could one expect from such a devil, beyond perversion and suffering?

Rest assured, my followers, that I have prepared even for this. Fifty years I have led you down the Righteous Path, and now I take its final steps. Someday soon, you will tell of how my tears flowed, and how I in my role as man, provider, and king restored the delicate body of our holy Queen. You will tell of our final crossing into Osiris's courts. We will buoy our perfect souls with Death's Final Breath. We will weigh on the scales lighter than air, and we will flank the Judge's throne in godlike glory.

So I must leave you once again, my faithful servants. But on the day of Ascension, rest assured you shall weep no more. The scales will be balanced, the infidels forever laid low. The Age of Possibility will dawn, and holy fire will scour this world and purge even the Heavens and Hells of the souls of the damned. Krommte'nai, my dear disciples. May it, in this and all worlds, be so.
