Osiris

Osiris is a god of death, justice, and law. He is the patriarch and founder of the Young Dynasty. He is also the chief judge of the Celestial Courts. When his followers reach the Liminal Plane and pass to the afterlife, he weighs their souls against a feather. Souls that are lighter than the feather are allowed to pass into his domain of Mount Celestia; souls that are heavier than the feather are turned away.   Osiris is typically depicted as a tall, middle-aged human man with medium-dark skin and a heavy build, wearing simple white robes and gold jewelry.

Schisms

When the archmage Tenser invented the spell Tenser's Trueself in Y531, it was controversial among many groups of religious scholars, including Osirians. Many Osirians believed that the spell altered the soul in a way that could throw off Osiris's scales and thus should be opposed; others argued that the spell merely revealed the true nature of the soul to the outside world, and should therefore be embraced. By Y535, these schools of thought had split into the Fundamental Church of Osiris and the Reform Church of Osiris, respectively. The Reform Church is the largest branch of Osirianism today, comprising over 90% of Osiris followers.   In Y1060, one of the last remaining Fundamental bishops, a young human from Breughelland named Sarastro, founded an order based on ultra-strict variants of Orthodox beliefs that he named the Order of Sarastro. This Order encompassed worship of Osiris, Isis, Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and Set, among others. It is notorious today for its ultra-restrictive beliefs about sexuality and gender roles, as well as its growing influence in the Dreibach Empire.
