Chaneq

A chaneq (plural chanequen) is an Elemental native to the Elemental Plane of Earth and its border with Erdelan. The chanequen are mostly known as guardians who defend the gateways to their plane from greedy explorers and miners, though they are also sometimes benevolent rescuers of Humanoid travelers lost deep within the earth.
Chanequen appear to humanoids most often in deep mountain mines or at the bottom of crevasses. They appear to be ordinary boulders when motionless, until their target is within reach of their short yet powerful arms. They drag their target through the bottom of the cave or crevass, into the Elemental Plane of Earth, only to deposit them back closer to the surface of the Material Plane three to seven days later. Those who have been taken by a chaneq remember nothing of their time on the other plane, besides a few vague, dreamlike flashes.
