Akyishigal

Akyishigal, Demon Lord of Cockroaches, is the prince of the Crawling Caverns in The Abyss. He is a repulsive, many-legged roachlike creature who stands well over ten feet tall, even when hunched and scuttling on four of his many claws. The mandibles atop his head grasp and clack unceasingly. He tirelessly skitters across the Abyss, creating swarms of cockroaches everywhere he touches.
Cults of Akyishigal infest the darkest corners of the cities of the Material Plane. His shrines are tended in secret in abandoned cellars, sewer systems, derelict houses, and ill-kept granaries. He sends his swarms into the dreams of the dispossessed, twisting their hopes to escape their squalor into a dark desire to bring the world down around them. The most fervent among these cultists cultivate subterranean temples with pits of muck and filth, where they submerge prisoners up to their necks and release swarms of roaches to feast on their eyes and tongues. While they dance and pray around the tortured captive, they transform into roachlike creatures themselves, echoes of their dark master. Victims often survive the ritual and are tossed back out onto the streets.
