Session 3
General Summary
With their prisoner held captive and Syntralia mending the wounds of the skirmish, the newest band of heroes began tending to the damages that were caused by the bandits. Sausage took a visit to the temple to speak with the high priest, Warren met with Gennen and received a box of his latest magical trinkets. Mac'Velly, Rail, Nail and Medzier turned the prisoner over to Wiquwa at the Census Bureau and began questioning him once the man awoke again. The interrogation seemed to lean in the party's favor as they learned of God-King Azhda'Zarr and his band of cultists. That is, until the prisoner chanted a string of words in an ancient language and fell over dead. Just as soon as his body hit the floor, Rail picked up the distinct scent of wood smoke wafting toward them from the East. Shouts of terror alerted the townspeople to yet another attack. Captured animals with torches bound to their tails were sent sprinting through the streets of the already crumbling city, lighting the structures ablaze, weaponizing the creatures' fear in a terroristic attack. The sound of marching and war drums thudded ever closer as invaders closed in on the outskirts of Syntralia.
Warren heard the screams of Maddie coming from the tavern, to find her being captured by a shape-shifting Luminare Bellator. The man transformed into a wild boar and escaped with the bar tender, bringing her into the fray of battle that had broken out in the town center. A minor battle began to erupt as Sausage and Medzire were both slain. MacVelly was able to extinguish many of the fires and rescue most of the fox-like creatures. Rail fought bravely against a desert scorpion until its claws proved too powerful and grappled him. Warren was able to revive both of his fallen comrades. Too exhausted from the first raid, the townspeople were left defenseless to the second attack and succumbed to their captors as Maddie was held hostage, then ultimately kidnapped and presumably taken to Capital Vice Port.
For the second time in less than a day, the remaining citizens of Syntralia began rebuilding, as they always have. Night fell across the land, the stars obscured by the ash and smoke of Godsbane Summit.
Nail, perplexed by their unusual treatment as a Shifter, stood at the docks in the darkness alone. There they discovered the carpenter and bait shop owner, Serena, working quickly in the night with a swift crew, preparing a ship to sail The Tempest.
Before the sun could makes it's way fully over the horizon, Dahlia called the party together, urging them to venture out beyond the walls of Syntralia not only to rescure their captured friend, but to find a way to stop the raids all together.
Gazing out into the forbidden The Thunderlands, a sudden strike of lightning accompanied by a swift gust of wind and feverish accordion music brought the party's attention to a rapidly approaching caravan. The vehicle had stopped about 100 yards away from the outskirts of the city and Dahlia pressed for the party, now officially adventurers, to go to their new transport. They hesitantly did so, boarding the electrified vehicle for the price of 30 gold per person (+5 each for the grand tour!) and set off across the Thunderlands toward Capital Vice.
