Vampires of the House of Maggots

Basic Information

Anatomy

Of all the Great Houses of vampires, the House of Maggots undergo the greatest physical changes in their transformations. In their natural state, vampires of the House of Maggots appear as large, fleshy, obese monstrosities. Their eyes are are completely black, with grey irises, although ancient vampires have gold irises. Their gums are completely black, as is their saliva, and their mouths are filled with long, needle-like teeth. Their noses are rotten off, and their skin is a dead grey color, and is often covered in decaying pustules. They have the ability to disguise themselves as their victims by wearing their skins, although this disguise generally doesn't hold up to close inspection, as the skin seems ill-fitting, and the eyes and teeth are clearly not human. However, they are capable of imitating voices perfectly.

Genetics and Reproduction

Like with all other vampires, those of the House of Maggots begin as ordinary people who are administered the Immortal Blood shortly after their death. After being administered the blood, it generally takes two to three weeks for the fully fledged vampire to emerge.

Growth Rate & Stages

As with all vampires, vampires of the House of Maggots begin as ordinary people who are administered the Immortal Blood of the House immediately after death. The blood infects the recently deceased body, and essentially restarts many of its functions, granting the new vampire a new facsimile of life. After infection, the person is generally set free to return to their home, where after a few days, they begin to develop an extreme, insatiable hunger. Typically they tend to try and satiate this hunger by eating copious amounts of food and drink, but they can gain no satisfaction from this. Over this time, the body's internal structure begins to change significantly, although it cannot be seen from the outside. In desperation, typically a week or two after infection, the vampire will consume those closest to it, whether they be friends, family, or anyone who lives with them. At this point, the mutation has taken full hold, and after making an incision along the spine, the vampire consumes the entire body whole, unhinging its now black, needle-like maw to accommodate the corpses of its victims, leaving only the skin behind. At this point, the new body which has been growing beneath its old skin has become too large to contained, and it molts its former skin, revealing a large, obese, slimy creature within, with sunken black eyes and a terrifying maw. Many parts of its body are necrotized with rotting pustules, and the nose has rotten off. Horrified by its own appearance, it squeezes itself into the skin of its victim, and instinctively seeks out its fellow vampires.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The House of Maggots are also known as the House of Gluttons among the vampire clans. This is because blood alone is not enough to satiate their hunger. Vampires of the House of Maggots are known to consume the entire bodies of their victims whole, leaving only the skin behind.
