The domestic terrorist attack in Sydney Australia in 2018 killed thousands, and wounded thousands more. A series of bombs planted strategically across the downtown area exploded simultaneously to maximize casualties, but also to prevent an effective response from EMS and other first responders. Australian military personnel, who were eventually deployed to help civilians, were ambushed by domestic terrorists who had acquired military ordinance to handle any attempted assaults. After two days, the Australian government authorized a series drone strikes on the terrorist encampments that had been built to house the attackers, but also to hold hostages. Unfortunately this furthered loss of life with collateral damage. The world watched in horror for over 52 hours. Analysis of the event left many more questions than answers but divulged two inescapable realities:

1) The Governments of the United States, France, Belgium, Australia, and Afghanistan all had pieces of intel that alluded to the attack, but because that information was compartmentalized to each nation, none had enough of a picture to know what was going to happen.

2) The attack was executed by three organizations; The Chinese Triads, The Jihadi Sisters of the Dawn, and the Australian Resistance, a white nationalist group. While the organizing principles of these groups are diametrically opposed, they set aside their differences and worked together towards a common goal.

Twenty to governments proceeded to sign on to create a new organization that would be given unprecedented intelligence access, and wide latitude to deal with this new emerging threat. This organization was called ATLAS. Also a scientific exploration division, ATLAS has many scientists and doctors working for them, exploring a wide variety of advancements in an effort to further their mission.
