Timberhall

Timberhall was a dwarven hold and the seat of Clan Axebite. Unusual among dwarven holds, it was constructed both on the surface and from wood. Over the course of its history, Timberhall has suffered multiple tragedies, each resulting in the longhall burning to the ground.

History

First Age

Constructed in 305 1A, Timberhall was among the swiftest of all dwarven holds to construct. Tovazi Axebite, the clan's foundered, wished to construct a stronghold of stone but could find no site suitable that would permit the dwarves access to the lumber they needed. Instead, a woodcarver by trade, she commissioned a great timbered structure built high atop a hill that overlooked the Firewood below.   For many hundreds of years, Timberhall stood proud over the surrounds, the center of all logging in northern Khûm.

Second Age

When Zhoraska the Red Matron discovered several of her kobold brood slain by Clan Axebite loggers in 68 2A, she arose in a rage and swept upon Timberhall. Her fire breath reduced the proud dwarven hold to cinders and slew many of the clan. Those who survived fled into the hills and, denied access to Snowperch high above, eventually fell in amongst the Menagerie, when it came to slay the dragon.

Campaigns

  • Khûm: Upon reaching the encampment in the foothills of the Roofbeams, the Commander's Tent beheld the smoldered ruins of Timberhall, all that remained of Zhoraska's rage (Chapter 10).
