Roofbeams

The Roofbeams was a mountain range in northern Khûm. Running west to northwest along the Hidden Kingdom's northern border, the Roofbeams were some of the tallest mountains on Ondûn. This was due largely to the deposits of wingrock found beneath the stone, elevating the peaks of the tallest mountains hundreds of feet above their bases.

Geography

The Roofbeams followed Khûm's northwestern coast and rivaled the Phalanx for sheer length. To the north spanned the cold waters of the Gigantic Ocean. To the west, the Roofbeams intersected with the Glittering Hills that ran along Khûm western border. To the south of the Roofbeams stretched the Orcish Marches, flat tundra where the qorhvs roamed free. Running east from the Roofbeams were smaller arms of mountains – the Clatterdowns and the Flagstones, the Firewood swaddled between them.
Apart from the towering Krazvadan, the Roofbeams were the tallest mountains in Khûm and therefore Rubicos. The wingrock deposits floated each of the mountain's peaks nearly one hundred feet from their bases, a singular sight in all of Ondûn. So tall were they, however, that they were frequently heavy with cloud and their majestic peaks all but invisible to the naked eye.

Climate

So far north in Khûm, the Roofbeams experienced a polar climate, resulting in wintry conditions throughout the year. The tallest mountain range on the continent, the Roofbeams were heavy with snow even in the summers. The slops reaches so high that the air grew thin near the peaks. While the Firewood stretched far below, the Roofbeams were too tall and too steep for much forest cover, the timberline much lower than normal.

Dwarves

Many dwarven clans made their homes all along the Roofbeams. While most were loyal to Castle Cloudpeak, a small minority in the west swore allegiance first to Clan Glimmergem, then to Clan Goldenplait. 
The famous dwarven wizard Zhûndakhûn also made his abode in the Roofbeams.

• Snowperch: Constructed high atop Hemradan's floating peak, the seat of Clan Bracebow was one of the most impregnable strongholds in all of Khûm, thanks to its Killing Stair and the Messenger, the enormous ballista mounted on the stronghold's roof.
