Five Hundred Fine Forms

The Five Hundred Fine Forms were a suite of five hundred elven swordplay schools. Invented, according to legend, by the elven sword goddess Iboriel, the Five Hundred Fine Forms were something of a misnomer, as no numbered list was ever collated, making it impossible to determine their true number.   Whatever their origin, each form was immensely difficult to learn. Mastering and performing one was considered more an art form than a martial technique. Often an elven practitioner would spend a century perfecting a particular school, down to the slightest motion.

Vai Udhariad

"The Way Without Hands"

Invented by Varanwei, an armless sword-master in 416 1A, the Vai Udhariad was considered one of the most difficult one the Five Hundred Forms to master. Thanks to the unique circumstances of its invention, the only way to perform Way Without Hands was to wield the blade without the use of hands or arms; rolling the sword across the shoulder-blades. It employed an unusual weapon, custom-designed for this school, that featured a hilt twice as long as the standard sword-hilt. In the entire history of Ondûn, less than a dozen elves ever mastered the style.
  • Remorhaz, mercenary of the Menagerie, was a practitioner of the school and spent much of his career struggling to improve his skill.
