Anima Well Bloom Physical / Metaphysical Law in Anvil | World Anvil

Anima Well Bloom

When you are in the midst of darkness
Where loneliness engulfs your soul
Twinges of hopelessness felt
Chirping sound of crickets heard
The only sound to break the silence
Open the window of your heart
To see the magic in your backyard
The most fascinating view on earth
Hundreds of shimmering sparks
The glowing lights in the dark
Millions of twinkling stars in the sky
Like diamonds on black carpet
And you are the shining moon in darkness
To spread the light around.

An anima well bloom is an extremely rare occurence that can be seen and felt by almost all living being for hundreds of meters around it. During a blooming event a new anima thread or , in some even rarer cases, well springs from the ground and shoots up in the sky to meet with the rest of the ley lines that thread the world of the Anvil.

During the event, the anima becomes super heated and ionised making it visible without any arcane spell and to the eyes of any observer looks like a sparkling waterfall of light shooting up to the sky like a geyser and getting lost as it reaches for the clouds. The geyser is surrounded by firefly-like lights of blue,, purple, white and yellow lights that twirdl and dance around the main column and get continuesly born and absorbed by it.

The event might be momentarily spectacular, and depending on the intensity of the thread or well, lasting anything between 5 minutes to 4 hours but its repercussions can only be understood by arcance spellcasters. Each bloom event can potentially rearrange the map of the ley lines around it and have knock-on effects in the area for several tens of kilometers around it. Even more importantly it can alter and rebalance the intensity of wells in its vicinity creating a completely new power distribution to the network. Finally in very rare cases the creation of a new thread can destabilise the lands around it, causing earthquakes and volcanic activity or even shifting the landscape around it. Sinkholes and cracks in the lands have also been recorded during past events.

Nobody is really certain what causes a bloom but many arcanists believe that it is the way of the under-disk ocean to balance the new pressures brought by lands introduced to the disk.
