Omorian
Omorians are a near-human species hailing from the world of Omoria. Closely related to the Krathorans and Flumians, and possibly a distant evolutionary cousin of the humans, they are humanoid and inhibit most of the same traits.
Basic Information
Anatomy
They have a humanoid form, very similar to humans apart from a few more subtle physical traits. They are generally a little taller and while appearing leaner than some humans, their skeleton and muscle structure is more durable and stronger than humans.
Biological Traits
Due to the high genetic variation of the species, the Omorians have a large variation of shades of eye colours, hair colours, and physical appearance.
Genetics and Reproduction
Genetics
Omorians have a high genetic variability, manefisting in their multitude of physical traits like eye colour, skin tones, height, hair colour, and lifespan. Another effect is a high adaptive ability to breed with other species with very different genetics as well as preventing genetic bottlenecks through inbreeding.
Their diversity also causes diseases to rarely affect the whole population, causing the species to have a high survival rate in newly settled planets in comparison to many other species.
Reproduction
The high fertility rates from the Omorian lifespan and libido is only balanced by their large proportion of homosexuals and because they have a shockingly high sexual stamina, they have often had a need for expansion and new settlements to balance population growth.
Omorians have shown a great ability (and enthusiasm) in breeding with other species. This includes an ease in breeding with their familial species', the Krathorans and Flumians, but also with humans.
Growth Rate & Stages
Omorians are considered physically mature by the age of 30, remaining youthful in appearance for centuries until they start visibly ageing in their 500s, usually dying off in their early 600s.
Ecology and Habitats
Omorians thrive in temperate, slightly warm climates. Their great genetic variability though makes them able to live at many different climates, and they inhabit many parts of the galaxy even if they tend to prefer lush, warm worlds.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omorians have a large variability in food-sources and diet. Although mostly vegetarian, the Omorian diet includes a wide array of different nutritional sources and meats, which is considered more luxurious.
Omorians drink more water than humans do and are worse and handling poor water supply than humans. Alcohol and hallucinatory have a lesser effect on Omorians than on humans and they consume a large amount of it.
Behaviour
Omorians are naturally calm, thoughful, curious, and cheerful beings, though their sharp senses and keen intelligence make them potentially dangerous predators, if not physically, then intellectually.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Omorians have sharp facial features, though their most distinguished features are their eyes, having colourful eyes ranging from various shades of blue, green, purple, pink, and rarely reaching into red and yellow shades.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Their sensory abilities are much the same as humans, though a few things stand out. For one, their night vision is poorer due to the lack of true dark nights as a result of the bright night sky of the Tveman star cluster.
Secondly, they have a degree of natural foresight and telepathy, though very limited, only amounting to faintly feeling other's emotions and imminent danger.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Omorian names generally follow the fluid nature of their language with soft sounds. Last names are generally inherited from a chosen parent. In the case of nobility and aristocracy, names are inherited form the senior family, the only exception being for the royal family, where the royal house cannot be inherited for members marrying out of it.
Some practises have first names be a mixture of the names of the parents, though there are some common names and names inherited, as is the case with the royal family.
Relationship Ideals
Omorians are unique from many other humanoids in the fact that there is no norm for sexual or romantic orientation. Instead, most Omorians are bisexual or pansexual.
Roughly 50% of the Omorian population is thought to be bisexual, with 25% each being exclusively homosexual or heterosexual, with 10% being asexual or other. The same general pattern exists for romantic attraction.
Omorians are known as deeply passionate and are highly romantic and physical in nature. Thus, while Omorian relationships are usually monogamous, though physical ones can take more polygamous forms, they are ideally deeply emotional, manifesting in passionate physical ways.
Omorians usually have soft creamy, bronze skin. Markings, for example tattoos are rarely shown in public.
