Valas

The Icon of Sight

Valas, also known as the History’s Visionary, appears as an average adventurer to those that worship Him. This is the byproduct of His sight magics. His likeness changes based on who is worshipping Him at the time, and can even appear as the individual worshipping Him. However, what the divine manifestation of Him appears to wear is lightly colored studded leather adorned with sigils and runes of varying uses. He is also depicted wearing a courier bag across His body that contains many literary mysteries that have been used as part of the language of Thieves Cant. His work as a guild leader for an information network guild was paramount in the eventual stoppage of a yugoloth invasion. However, a memory tied to Somek Fellarch, the Icon of Death, took Valas’s life and supplanted His mortality with that of a deity. His mount is recognized as being an Ardennais Draft Horse.

Dogma

Valas is a jovial Icon that cares about telling stories and traveling to hidden away destinations. Ones that are rich in adventure and intrigue. His ability to find anything lost was virtually unmatched in His guild. His attention to detail was only overshadowed by His curiosity in the unknown. Many times, Valas has gotten distracted with His work and managed to stumble into epiphanies that manage to work their way into His current problems.

Gaining Favor or Redemption

To gain favor with Valas, one must pursue knowledge. But this pursuit needn’t be for the destination, but the journey is more than enough. For someone to be downtrodden from not reaching their destination. To be ungrateful of the journey they had undergone. That is grounds for losing favor with Valas. Redemption is found through getting one’s self lost in an uncharted area. To appreciate where one’s journey is taking them and a self-realization of how experiences build into your own goals as opposed to just achieving goals.

Interactions with the world

Valas does not interact with Omen itself, but with humans that He believes are worthy of becoming explorers. His visitations are quick and discrete. Every time he leaves something behind for the potential worshipper to discover, but this is meant to be a test. To see if they truly appreciate what was given to them as opposed to the promise of reward along the way. One such memento is a glass bottle filled with liquid sunlight that shines brightly in the dark. This bottle has never been truly researched as worshippers of Valas have kept these safe and hidden. Worshippers of Valas almost always become adventurers or explorers, but there is a small percentage that become librarians and archivists.
