Niclaus
The Champion of Hunters
Niclaus is a woodling hobbit that acted as one of the floor champions for Zircon. His floor was a forested grove with varying hostile foliage that would guard the dais near the ramp leading to the next floor. After His eventual severing from Zircon, He traveled across the Great Core with His fellow Champions. With this, He eventually earned the title of, “Father of Spiders,” as He had fostered children with the daughter of the Omen-Strider. A continent-sized spider whose back pulsates with an adaptable brood. Niclaus learned how to hunt through being hunted by the efficient brood of the Omen-Strider. Eventually earning its blessing and learning the most efficient ways to hunt mortals and even gods. He is also part of the Nature Pantheon as The Embodiment of Survival. His mount is recognized as being a Monstrous Spider.
Dogma
Niclaus is a survivalist and thus He is a resourceful and adaptable Champion. He seeks the survival of nature in all its beauty. His first thought in any hunt is how He will survive, and His second thought is always what is possibly harmful to Him. But always He will seek an escape from any situation. From eliminating potential danger, to retreating until the odds are more in His favor.
Gaining Favor or Redemption
Gaining favor with Niclaus is based on how effective of a hunter one is. To succeed in the hunt means that the prey must be secured and utilized properly by the hunter are ways of gaining favor with Niclaus. To improperly hunt, to kill without harvesting the quarry, or even to fail in tracking your prey is grounds for losing favor. Redemption is found through a trial. A rite of survival. To become the prey in a hostile land with no supplies but the environment around you. The hunter is to turn their hostile location into a hospitable outpost.
Interactions with the World
Worshippers of Zircon tend to develop the precautionary instincts that Niclaus is known for. With this comes the desire to observe one’s surroundings and even preserve one’s territory. Worshippers of Niclaus have been known to actively leave their dungeons to tend to the exterior and even lay traps. Many Cores enjoy having Niclaus worshippers as they are some of the most self-sufficient beings that reside in their depths.
