Niclaus

The Embodiment of Survival

Niclaus is a woodling that is often depicted wearing armor made of leaves from mythical trees that resist the planar elements and mortal-made tools. He is often shown wielding a short bow made of living wood with foliage that changes based on the hunting ground Niclaus is in. He is known as the “Father of Spiders” as He had fostered children with the daughter of the Omen-Strider. A continent-sized spider whose back pulsates with an adaptable brood. Niclaus learned how to survive through being hunted by the efficient brood of the Omen-Strider. Eventually earning its blessing and developing a knack for adapting to almost any environment. He is also part of the Monster Pantheon as The Champion of Hunters. His mount is recognized as being a Monstrous Spider.

Dogma

Niclaus is a survivalist and thus He is a resourceful and adaptable Embodiment. He seeks the survival of nature in all its beauty. His first thought in any adventure is how He will survive, and His second thought is always what is possibly harmful to Him. But always He will seek an escape from any situation. From eliminating potential danger to retreating until the odds are more in His favor.

Gaining Favor or Redemption

Gaining favor with Niclaus operates differently than most Embodiments. Success in survival is exactly what He is searching for, and thus finding one’s self in the situation to survive or even having the skills to do so is not enough to gain favor. However, loss of favor is not feasible in His eyes. Redemption is not possible either. For loss of favor with Niclaus in regards of survival is loss of one’s life. A loss of His favor is a boon to the ecosystem around you.

Interactions with the World

Niclaus’s contributions to Omedei was a small plant that hides amongst other thistle clusters. Growing in small patches, the Spiderthistle can cover whole fields if enough nutrients are available. The Spiderthistle plant’s height is about one and a half feet on average. Its name is given to it due to the silk it produces that ensnares smaller prey, the orientation of the Spiderthistle appearing as a white and brown mottled spider dead on its back, and the “venomous” bite of its spines. The silk it produces is often used for clothing repairs on the road, and some have found it is especially useful for medicinal stitching. However, the poison within the stinging spines of the Spiderthistle can cause nausea and fatigue to those that are unlucky enough to be stung by the small spines.
