Grace House Building / Landmark in Omari | World Anvil

Grace House

Everyone is welcome here. Our doors are always open thanks to both our wonderful staff roster and the generous support of the community. We hope that folks are able to find what they need among our supplies.
This building is located in (town name) and houses one of Omari's many charity services. They have several staff members covering different shifts. This allows them to operate year round and all hours of the day.

Architecture

The building is a large rectangle with two floors and a basement. It's concrete and painted a pastel yellow. A covered patio surrounds its exterior and there's a wide ramp attached. Two elevators are available inside.

Rooms

Most of the building has an open floor plan. The basement is used for storing surplus supplies. Food, medicine, household goods, and personal items are located on the first floor. The second floor contains racks of clothing, small appliances, toys, and books.   There is an office on the second floor and a couple storage / cleaning closets. A small kitchen and dining area is located on the first level. There is also a small nursery available where a staff member can watch younger children if families don't have care services for them.

Services

The Grace House provides members of the community with access to free food, supplies, and other necessities. To provide a sense of dignity, it uses a "shopping" model. This allows clients to browse the items freely without hovering staff. Certain items have limits per household based on the number of people, but they aren't enforced too heavily unless supplies are low.   Once a week there is a free dinner for clients to attend. Take out is also an option for those who would rather eat it in their own home. The food is provided by local restaurants; the chefs cook and serve on most occasions.   Families can send in requests for specific items to fit different needs. The staff will do their best to find a way to supply them or direct them to other resources that can help. In most cases it's to help with larger items that won't fit well in the space like furniture.
