Three-Horned Rhutian Goat

...[it] had three large horns that curved back onto itself, with the middle horn have a small protruding stub. Its eyes were sat either side its head, and it turned its head to look toward me yet continued to chew the cud. It was not scared; it wasn't even concerned of my presence.
— Mer Luco, circa 1003 TF
The Three-Horned Rhutian Goat, also known as the Tribor or the Shiakh, was an ibex that existed in the Rhutian regions, living in the hilly terrains. It was adapted to the terrain and the colder climate, and was often a symbol for the Rhutian peoples. It had always been recorded as a rare beast but over time has been accepted as finally becoming extinct when the final sighting was recorded in 1316 TF.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Tribor was a little large than the average goat, standing at close to five or six feet. They had four legs ending with hooves. Their head had eyes set on either side, with their most prominent feature being the three horns on their head. All three would curve back toward the goat's head, but the middle horn would have a small protrusion towards the front as well. Their horns would eventually curve into themselves to look like the shell of a snail, but this would be the mark of a goat in old age. Often depictions show the Shiakh at a younger age where the horns have a sufficient gap. The Tribor also possessed a thick fleece that would thicken in the season before the winter, and would moult during the springtime before summer.

Ecology and Habitats

The goats were found in the hilly and mountainous regions of Rhuti, often a rare sighting on the hillside. Some Rhutian peoples believe the goat was an omen of bad news and often forbade the chasing of the creature for the fear of it leading people to their death; this can be explained by the goat having incredibly good balance and could stand on places that would be treacherous to others.   The goat was a herbivore and would eat the plants found native to Rhuti, which are often hardy and tough plants. For this, the goat developed strong molars and a tough tongue and stomach.
