Arcane Firearms

The specialty of Cita Arma, these advanced weapons are devastating in all the forms they take. Ranging from one-handed pistols to artillery-sized mortars, all arcane firearms are prized across the whole of Ceruleon, with most conflict-oriented individuals having one or more in their possession.
The primary difference between arcane and mundane firearms is the nature of their ammunition. Arcane firearms use a special form of gunpowder composed partially of ground arcanite, leaving the powder naturally magical. When packets of this powder are sparked by a firearm's action, then projected through the enchanted orichalcum rings along the barrel, the powder is transformed into a energy projectile not dissimilar to a standard musket ball. This means that all arcane firearms both deal magical damage and require no ammunition beyond the special powder, though modifications can be made to use standard munitions or alter the energy projectiles.

Utility

Well, they're firearms. What do you think they are used for?

Manufacturing

Arcane firearms are primarily based upon scavenged relics pulled from the ruins of Cita Arma. Over time, basic firearms have been remade so much that they no longer require complex diagrams or engineering. However, the Gunsmith's Guild of Port Noin are constantly seeking out new diagrams or models to use in enhancing the weaponry they use as a livelihood.

Access & Availability
While fairly common in Ceruleon, most arcane firearms are incredibly rare outside of the region. This is partially because only Ceruleon has ample enough materials to feed and maintain the firearms, and partially because only those with special training can properly repair or modify them.
Complexity
Arcane firearms are functionally identical to normal flintlocks, save that they lack the required loading of musket balls. However, their arcane nature makes tampering with them a difficult and usually dangerous process.
Discovery
While several small weapons were first recovered from various Citan ruins, the first usable arcane firearms were scavenged from Cita Arma. In addition to hand-held weapons, Cita Arma also held various forms of arcane artillery and cannons, named "Culverins" in the rough translations of the Citan language.
