Guardians of Devotion Session 03 Report
A Pie in Need: Part 2
General Summary
Picking up in the office of the San Venwin Bakery, Jenkins_Secretary and JonnySlays immediately vanish. The party is unsure about what happened, but suspects that they lost internet connection and won't be able to join for the rest of the adventure.
The party searches the other rooms of the bakery, saving the bakery floor itself for last. Coming into the main baking area, the party sees enchanted knives, rollers, and other machinations which would allow a person to operate an whole industry by themselves. Moving carefully through the environment, the adventurers find Fire Snakes living in the ovens and decide to leave them there until they can better figure out how to transport them.
Suddenly Goblins drop from the rafters. While a fight might have broken out, the party showed restraint. The Goblins explained that they have become addicted to the pies but aren't able to make more. Feeling empathy for the Goblins, the party decides to help them. They are lead upstairs to speak with the Goblin Boss, Big Brother, who had taken up residence in the apartment.
Big Brother Boss explains that they were contracted by Chult Enterprises to hold the bakery until more members could arrive and take formal possession of the premises. But they never came and then the Goblins couldn't leave because they needed the pie. The adventurers find the other half of the recipe and agree to help the Goblins work with the Fire Snakes and to negotiate a truce with the surrounding wildlife. There is also the hope that this will allow for the business to start again and for the people of San Venwin to be helped.
During the conversation, Zaynathan notices that the tunic that Big Brother Boss is wearing looks familiar although very tattered. It is the same as the tunic he has in his possession from an earlier fight, their first major fight in the Gnarley Forest during Session 1. Big Brother confirms that this is the clothing worn by members of Chult Enterprises and it is how they were to be recognized. Additionally, Thalia finds an image of Grammy who they recognize as the woman from the dream last session, but decides to pocket the picture and not share that information with the party.
After testing the recipe, the party begins to teach the Goblins how to make the pies themselves. They also negotiate a truce with surrounding wildlife to help re-establish balance and to maintain it. Once this is completed, the party makes their way back to the San Venwin Shop to share the new pie with the shopkeeper. He is amazed. It is discovered that the shopkeeper is also the mayor of the town and is therefore able to negotiate with the party and Big Brother Boss who accompanied them as a show of trust and good faith.
After successfully negotiating a deal between the Goblins and the people of San Venwin, the party decides to make a sizable investment into the new company, ensuring that some passive income will being showing up in their coffers. The party then returns to Tower of Tyndareus the Green who is ecstatic to have the recipe he has long waited for. It is all he ever hoped it would be and awarded the party a Rust Colored Bag of Tricks which Flo agreed to hold onto.
They went through the portal and reported back to Chester who smiled proudly and confidently over their report.
