Guardians of Devotion Session 02 Report
A Pie in Need: Part 1
General Summary
The party is joined by their final member, Thalia, who is an IRL friend of Zaynathan. Chester tells the party that he has an assignment from Tyndareus the Green, a member of Greyhawk's Guild of Wizardry. Arriving at the tower, the party discovers that this assignment is a glorified shopping run. Tyndareus is looking to have a piece of pie from his hometown, San Venwin.
The party sets out for the town and during the night, are attacked by Giant Spiders. Despite Thalia's best efforts at diplomacy, one of the spiders strikes them down, causing the party to experience their first death. After defeating the spiders and healing their comrade, the party carries out their first long rest.
During the night the magic users experience a shared vision of a woman reaching out her hands towards an image of her dirty, seemingly pleading for help. Flo rolls a Nat 20 and discovers that this is a statue of Bahamut. The party discusses the dream the following morning as they continue their journey towards San Venwin.
Arriving in the town, the party makes their way towards the local shop to possibly buy supplies and to get more information about the pie Tyndareus seeks. The San Venwin Shopkeeper informs the party that Grammy's Country Apple Pies are no longer produced or sold due to the sudden disappearance of Grammy many years ago. He goes on to tell them that as a result of her disappearance, the town has been struggling financially. Additionally, goblins have moved into the old bakery and have caused some minor trouble.
Making their way to the San Venwin Bakery, the party meets a variety of plant life and creatures of nature which inform them that the goblins moved in just after Grammy left and have been disrupting the balance that had been previously established. Additionally, Grammy's pie recipe can be found inside the baker in two locations, the office and her apartment above the bakery.
Dodging several Goblin patrols, the party makes it inside the bakery undetected and is able to find the first half of the recipe in the office. JonnySlays discovers documents which outline the following information: A company known as Chult Enterprises has been seeking to buy the business from Grammy for a long time. They finally made an offer that she was willing to accept, but it was contingent on her vacating the premises immediately. It was implied that members of Chult Enterprises would arrive shortly after she left to take over the business and production. The adventure is paused here. What will happen next?
