Greyhawk 15: Kobold Slaying
General Summary
From the diary of Garbrulo Bellario.
After a lot of sittin' around doing a buncha nothin', I finally got pulled into this Castle Zagyg. This Findere guy said there were some prison doors that needed opening and yours truly was the gnome for the job. We took off with a old priestly geezer, Raphael, who was huffin' and puffin' under the weight of his armor, a swole priestess named Thalara, that kid paladin Miles, and this whiny grey elf priestess, Liriel.
We clambered over the Castle Walls to avoid some pot shots from some goblins peering down from the inner wall, then descended through a secret passage into the tunnels beneath the gatehouse. I moved ahead, scouting the way, bumping into a kobold who musta heard me comin'. He scrambled for an alarm bell after huckin' a javelin at me, then another came out a door. I fired my trusty crossbow, dropped the new kobold, and called for the rest of the crew. The alarm kobold got pinged, then I dropped him with a dagger. As kobolds came to engage, they threw some flasks of oil, one of which hit Miles. I stacked up on a corner, waiting for more to come around as Thalara warned us she could hear some. One ran around the corner and I dropped him with a well-placed shot as Liriel screamed somethin' about some "kobolds with shields!" from behind us.
We turned the front and a trio of kobolds in plate armor were comin' down the hallway (far more important than the shields they were carrying), and things looked a little unsteady as Thalara, Findere, and Miles engaged. But they managed to hack down a couple of the scaly fiends and Liriel threw a magical stone down the throat of the last one.
Kobolds cleared, we looked into some of the prison cells down the way, finding a kobold and a half-orc. I got to work on the half-orc's door, popping open that lock like nothin'. He was grateful and followed us around. His name is Stone Battlecreek and he seems about as dense as one, but strong and happy to help in a fight.
We looked around some storage rooms and spooked up some flesh beetles that went to work on Findere. Yours truly lined 'em up and knocked 'em down. The rest of the storage rooms were beetle-free, however, and we hauled out some valuable goods that we sold in the City.
