Umra

Lord of undead, god of unnatural life and power. Patron of necromancers and vampires.   Umra, often called the usurper-god, was once a mortal man. A powerful and learned sorceror, he became consumed with a dreadful thirst for immortality. As he aged his desperation fueled increasingly dark magical discoveries, creating dark rituals of un-life, resurrection and even curse of vampirism. His heinous exploits gathered a following and when the mortal kingdoms eventually acted to put an end to his heretical movement it incited a dark war that spanned the breadth of Odava.    There are many myths about his final ascension, some say the Stranger gave Umra what he sought, some tell that he robbed the souls from battlefields, others say he tricked Heldis herself into revealing the secret of immortality. However it was done, Umra finally achieved incredible power during the Bloodwar, such that the elder gods themselves descended to the mortal plane to destroy him. In the end it is said that Umra had woven himself into the great Song, a single sour note inextricable from the very fabric of the universe and he could not be unmade. The gods banished him to the Void, sealed beyond the mortal realm in eternal silence.   However, his mark was made upon the mortal realms. A rotten strain of necromancy threaded its way through the dark hearts of the world, corrupting magic and inspiring devotees to continue Umra's pursuit of immortality.
