Lord Matsu Hernán Cortés (a.k.a. the Spanish Winter)

Matsu is the eldest son of Hernán Cortés, who was lord of all Spanish possessions in Ocrea, and his wife Ayame Saki. He was meant to be the Lord of Castle Cortés but decided to become an explorer under the command of both the Shajin Clan and Spain, wanting to remain loyal to both his parent's loyalties. His true rise to fame is when he partook in the War on North Ocrean piracy in 1551, where he was placed in charge of an armada of ships from Spain and Ocrea against the North Ocrean pirates, where he managed to conquer a vast portion of North Ocrea, so much that he was placed in charge of the newly established Viceroyalty of North Ocrea by Charles V himself.

Special abilities

After secretly training with passing ice magicians, he has awoken the ability to create a sword of ice from water, becoming one of few "real" mages on the continent.

Apparel & Accessories

Matsu views fashion as of least importance, preferring to keep his white silk robe and blue tunic as his main uniform. He isn't very fond of using enclosed shoes and instead wears sandals.

Personal history

Matsu was brought up in a luxurious lifestyle, kept in Castle Cortés the majority of his whole life to prevent any harm. This only encouraged him to sometimes sneak out and get a good view of the valley below the castle, quickly becoming intrigued by how magical the land looks. At an early age, he quickly became infatuated by the exploration of the Spanish conquistadors after sailing on his father's ship, the Conquista, where he dreams of exploring the world to discover wonders described by Ferdinand Magellan and Jacques Cartier, but was always short-sighted by Hernán who wanted him to be a ruler over all of his lands in Ocrea.
At a younger age, he was met with a band of traveling ice mages who sensed his magical potential within him, where they gave him training in the way of the frost, gaining the ability to forge a sword made out of ice from water as a result. This gained him the nickname, "the Spanish Winter," making him one of the first half-Europeans to gain the ability to form magic, intriguing the entire continent with news about his newfound ability, including his father. In 1548, he achieved his dream of becoming an explorer when he bought the Conquista from Spanish administration and traveled all around Ocrea to map out the entire continent, arriving in several wonderous cities and ruins. He also saw many actions facing down numerous pirate ships who tried to capture his magnificent ship, but always came out the victor with almost no damage to his ship, only adding to his fame.
