Leylas
Leylas is an enormous city of the Shajin clan and has been its capital since 1452. Leylas once belonged to the Odo clan before their extinction at the hands of the Shajin. Leylas is considered the fourth largest city on the entire continent, rivalled by the capitals of the Parjini and Carlin clans and the Kingdom of Ocrea's former capital. It has since become a vital city of the entire Shajin clan, as well as a point of interest by Europeans, particularly the Spanish - the latter of which has established an embassy in the city in 1521.
Demographics
The population is dominated by the human species, while about 12% are lerush and 5% are naga.
Government
After the shift of the Shajin capital city, the city is under the administration of the Shajin clan, who act as the absolute rulers of the entire city, divided into different parts to give each lord land to control.
Defences
The city is protected by several walls that divide each section of the city, placed in many positions to be able to hold many sections at a time, proven when the Shajin had a very hard time getting past each section to get to the royalty section. The river that leads to the Sapphire Sea towards the city center is protected by the Shajin fleet, whose entire base of operations is from within the city itself.
Infrastructure
The city is divided into numerous parts that control their own sector, starting from the royalty section, the nobility section, the market section, merchants section, and the peasants' section. The city itself doesn't house any houses of worship, preferring a more secular city that involves all religions that come past its gates, including numerous "Eastmen" faiths.
History
Leylas was originally a developing small town, but was considered a strategic point with its close proximity to the eastern coastline. Leylas was heavily fortified by the Odo clan in the late 14th century. Since then, it has become a massive city that dominates the entire eastern coastline and is considered a very strategic point to the lord that controls it, which led to the invasion of the city in 1452 by the Shajin clan, shifting their own capital to the city.
Geography
The entire portion of Leylas measures to be about 22 square miles, stretching mostly inland and north. Leylas is located in a valley, part of the Yamar Basin, in the eastern part of the mountainous region known as the Shajin (previously Opara) highlands. The Yamar Basin is surrounded on three sides by mountains known as the Triplets, with a height just above 1,000 metres each above sea level. This interior positioning results in hot summers and cold winters.
