Ragu the Crystal Dragon

The crystal dragon is one of the most well known myths and a centre of many Daynean stories. He resides within the Crystal sea and has The crystal forest as his lair.

Description:

The Crystal Dragon is a huge being, his snake-like body going around 300 meters in lenght and 35 meters in average width. His head is more dragon-like than anything, set with two deep blue eyes and a cold red-colored forked tongue. Ragu's body is covered in reflective crystal scales. On his head they go much more wild, creating spikes of sort, that give his face a rough, intimidating look, or what some would call a crown of sort.

Biology:

As mentioned, the Crystal Dragon's body is covered in a layer of closely packed scales, mimicking the sea crystals, as many other creatures learned to do. They consist of a layer of small ones, about the size of a coin, completely covering his body, as they are tightly packed close to each other, while there are thicker ones on top, acting as armor, varying in size from a humanoid shoulderplate, up to a shield, but are further apart to allow him fluid movement. They are not really transparet and easily reflect light, which can be used to blind anyone nearby, or basically make him invinsible underwater as the reflections make him blend in. Same as the sea crystals, his body glows once a few months during the event called the Crystal Night, celebrated in the Masked of Dantea.

The Crystal Dragon seems to be eminating extreme cold, to the point water starts freezing around him as he simply swims around. This also makes him easy to spot, as any intermediate drop in temperatures is an easy mark that he is nearby. However his true strenght is his freezing breath. He can create a substance of sort that turns to gas as soon as it heats up, which he can use both in and above water, freezing anything around at an extremely fast speed, nearly down to absolute zero. The Crystal Dragon himself seems unaffected by the cold temperatures, due to his likely alien-like biology. It is unknown even if he can bleed or not, but his bodily fluids might be modified to not freeze at even the lowest of temperatures.

Ragu seems to only eat fish, which is not a sustainable resource for such an enormous beast, so he freezes himself in his lair for years and years, the thawing of the ice being the timer of when he wakes up. It is unknown if he does it for protection, while lowering his bodily functions, or can produce cold enough breath to freeze his own body.

Personality:

Ragu is a wise, calm and colected being, even giving directions to lost sailors when he stumbles upon them. However, he is aware of what the Children of Myths are capable of and usually avoids them, only showing up with a good distance between them. Ragu tends to be mystrious, showing up at random intervals, speaking rather poetically, many times in riddles when he is asked something.
He knowns most of the Ocean of myths and even is aware of the lands beyond. It is said he is one of the oldest, if not the oldest of the myths, having seen his kind fall and turn into shards of the lost past.

Lore:

Ragu the Crystal Dragon shows up in many stories and legends, mainly written by dayneans, as they live closest to him and therefore are the ones who have seen him on almost all of his appearances. The stories are countless, but only soem are worthy of beign mentioned.

The Crystal Dragon:

A popular story, also adapted into a play, is about a fisherman's wife, who is kidnapped by The crystal Dragon. The man joins the army to slay the beast. However, after years of training, when they confront the dragon, they quickly lose the battle, only the fisherman surviving.
He continues fighting the crystal dragon until his last breath, eventually managing to chip his tooth, sucumbing to his wounds seconds later. The dragon, impressed by the man, return his wife back to her home.

Frozen love:

There is a love story about a young woman, who falls in love with the Crystal Dragon. She is disowned by her family and exiled by her people, as they feared the powerful Myth. But once an enormous Nagataru army appears, covering half the island in blood. The Crystal Dragon, after the young woman's request, helps her people and kills the evil raiders. The story ends with the woman being accepted back to her home, while she can meet with her lover every night and spend time with him.

The cold war:

A story written by a Commander. It described a long battle between the Crystal Dragon and an unrealistically enormous Masked of Dantea flotilla, as they fight several days on end, until both sides fall, too exhausted to continue. The story is decribed in extreme detail in terms of combat and the military workings, down to the logistic the leaders ahve to deal with.
