Dance of the masked

On the Whitestone Island a story is told. A masked figure with no body, wearing a cloak walks the village. It is known as a myth called Masked. It doesn't talk, help or harm, it only brings death. Disease, accidents, deadly animals and insects, murderous insanity and natural disasters. No one is left alive within a week.
People learned to fear the stories and eventually found a way to keep the bringer of death away. Unfortunately this tradition is slowly dying, disappearing from people's minds.

The preparations: The tradition is done once every 3-6 months. It is believed the myth is attracted to pain, sadness and suffering, so the best way to avoid it is to spread happiness.
The people prepare a feast, bring chairs and tables, make drinks, food and decorate the place to be as colorful as possible. The food and drinks are never salty or spicy, only sweet.
Tailors make colorful dresses and masks, expressing positive emotions, most commonly joy or laughter.

The dance:

People drink, eat, talk, tell jokes and just try to have a good time and make everyone laugh. Most people try to make new friendships or give advice on how to improve each other's lives and mood on regular days.
But the main course is the dance itself. Musicians play music, while dancers and volunteers perform a special dance. It varies from group to group, but is always tries to be over the top, which makes it physically very demanding. The volunteers perform the easiest tasks while the actual dancers do complex dance moves and acrobatic tricks, such as making a pyramid.
Overall, it is meant to be as enjoyable as possible and make people happy, even tho some say it's over the top or unnecessary.
