The Pantokrator

Just as mortals hold their church and gods sacred the immortal beings of the outer planes have their own alien forms of worship. Both the angels of the Celestial Choir and the Cenobites of Babel's Cathedral worship the same almighty unknowable god whom they claim to be the creator of all existence across the planes. He is both a god of creation and destiny, having crafted an ineffable plan for reality entire.   Despite this seeming omniscience, the Pantokrator himself is nowhere to be found. Though the Choir claims that he at one point directed their actions in person, his throne in the heavens has been unoccupied for as long as man has been able to commune with the outer planes. All of his followers have their own explanations for the god's absence and course of action they must take to bring him back.

Divine Domains

The Pantokrator in his absence does not grant spells to his clerics. As such he does not possess domains. Though there are still oracles and paladins whom attribute their divine power to him.

Tenets of Faith

The angels of the Celestial Choir view the Pantokrator's plan as something that must be maintained and cared for. Mortal and immortal beings are capable of deviating from the plan and must be corrected with force if necessary. They are always seeking to improve the lives and well-being of mortals, as the Divine's plan requires all to beings to live well and in harmony. However they rarely believe the agency of such beings to be of any importance.   By contrast the cenobites of the Cathedral and their human devotees on the Legaran peninsula of Eridu, perceive their god's plan much differently. To the cenobite mind the creator's plan is all possibility and cannot be distorted, living beings are merely able to choose what role within that plan they play. They believe the most important action one can take is in experiencing sensation, positive or negative and ensuring that others can also experience sensation of their own agency. Worship thus takes the form of maximizing the amount of sensation one can experience in both intensity and quantity. Within the Cathedral itself this generally takes the form of what would to an outsider appear to be torture or bodily dismemberment, though all participants are strangely enthusiastic.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Only three of the innumerable gods of Occidentia are willing to answer, through divine revelation, any information regarding the Pantokrator.   The Tripartite god simply claims to be the Pantokrator despite all evidence to the contrary. Torquemada regards the Pantokrator with great contempt referring to him as a fraud and absent father. Finally Cuthbert has advised his followers that should the Pantokrator ever return he would be a high moral authority but that such a return is unlikely in all but the most distant futures.
