Inaster Character in Occident Setting | World Anvil

Inaster

(a.k.a. Queen of Sword and Spear; Lady Luck)

Inaster is the Primordial Goddess of war, lust, luck, passion, and fire. Once a mortal woman from a kingdom lost to time, she achieved divinity through the scattered shards of the Tablet of Destinies. She is a passionate goddess, and yet in the end is consumed only by her own aggrandizement and pleasure, taking what she pleases and leaving chaos and destruction in her wake. In her eternal lust she lures youths off to war, never to be seen again, yet always she hungers for more paramours. She is not a goddess of strategy or planning, but of violent, passionate bloodletting, the fire in the hearts of all beings that pushes them to carnal embrace or rampant, bloody slaughter. Some find her a cruel and uncarind diety, but this is not true, and her devotees know that she is simply mercurial in her tastes. It is by her favor that a warrior is narrowly missed by an arrow, that a captured spy is granted an opportunity to escape, that one man dies while another lives. And yet, she is fickle in her favor, and can easily tire of her champions and lovers; the greatest of kings can be killed by a javelin, tossed at random into the fray by a man who cannot even see the fight enough to tell friend from foe.

Divine Domains

Inaster oversees many of the domains lost when Ur destroyed Zano, but not all. She rules over passion, violence, lust and love, luck and fire, but revelry escapes her grasp except in terms of gambling and orgiastic sex. Most importantly, the domain of revolution is not to be found in her portfolio, for he still wanders the world in another form and could not be claimed even by Inaster. Of her domains, she is most frequently praised as a warrior-queen, for it is soldiers and mercenaries who most frequently have cause to give her praise; her favor is, to them, a matter of life and death.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Most frequently, Inaster is represented with a sword and two crossed spears over a rectangle, which represents a tower shield. She is associated as well with the lion, for it has often been considered a regal animal, or the tiger, for its great strength and ferocity. Additionally, the owl, for the merciless speed with which it takes its prey, is beloved of Inaster.

Tenets of Faith

Inaster, as a god of chaotic passions, is not one for rigid tenets or commandments. She believes that passion, cunning, and strength are the greatest things a mortal can aspire to, and that all else is meaningless. Her only true commandment is less a rule, and more of a maxim: "All Is Fair In Love And War". A victory is a victory, whether achieved by honorable single combat or a dagger in the back. She finds restraint repulsive, believing that mortals should do what they desire when they desire. Her followers are to see her as an example, a perfect being, and strive to be as she is.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Inaster appears however she desires, but most commonly she is depicted as a humanoid woman, fair and voluptuous. She takes also the form of a strix, with wings that change color with her mood. In either case, she is depicted wearing very little or nothing at all.
