There is no definite pattern to the emergence of an Ascended, save that they are supremely attuned to a specific elemental force. But a strong connection is not enough. An immense amount of power has to be concentrated within the individual as well. Still, there is often a great deal of additional nuance that contributes to the emergence of an Ascended.
