Starboard Metro
Somehow both the up-and-coming area of the city and also already the most expensive to find a room in, the Starboard Metro is picking up the slack the Port Metro and Old Town are leaving behind as their NIMBYism and catering to old money chase away the young and the creative and artisanal classes. Perhaps the most cosmopolitan neighbourhood in the world, heads will be turned here from time to time by a bipedal talking lizard in a pantsuit or an Orcish mage backed up by a pair of skeletons. Dwarvish and Orcish kids will fight over dice games together in an alley owned by an ex-death cultist. Anything you could want to see, they have it on the Starboard side.
Notable Locations
- Crystal Clover Mage's Supply: One of the few shops that will attract mages down from the peaks of Anthur-Ro, the Crystal Clover is almost as heavy on security as it is on prices. Adventurers make the Wandering City a destination specifically to shop or buy here. And they come with platinum in hand. Want a magical item without having to deal with the Circle? The Crystal Clover is the place to be.
- Quench Urban Smithy: You wouldn't think you could hipster up a blacksmith, but you would be wrong.
- Chapel of Tyr: Despite its name, the Starboard Chapel is the largest and most impressive cathedral dedicated to Tyr outside of The Corran Empire. The entire starboard side of the Shell, it seems, makes its way up on Sunday mornings.
- House of Harriet Fashion: One of Clytemnestra "Fanny" Glitters's old haunts, Harriet is not just a grand madame of fashion; she's also a madam.
- The Arcanaeum: The iconic feature of the Starboard Metro and arguably of the entire Wandering City, this soap-bubble structure of hypnotic glass and obsidian is the commercial branch of Anthur-Ro. They purchase unwanted items, sell surplus, provide services for hire, run auctions for rare and mysterious items, and even run a novelty lottery where desirable magical items are mixed in with the riff-raff of the clearance bin.
- Mirrorblack Bank: A veritable escarpment of obsidian jutting out of the middle of the main thoroughfare like a sliver, this bank provides cursed notes that stick to the fingers of anyone trying to employ them as tender without being the note's signatory. This high-security system allows commerce to be conducted in the thousands of platinum pieces without physical weight and security becoming an issue.
