The Brotherhood of Noranalashagedlaufinkol

There is a series of islands in the Outer Sea, somewhat North of Emeraldton, which is the kingdom of the bronze dragon, Noranalashagedlaufinkol. On the dragon's main island is a monastery where there is a Brotherhood of monks, who specialize in the Way of the Dragon as both an exercise and meditation as well as a form of martial art. These monks worship the bronze dragon as a god. They are masters of the sea and are in every port both east and west of the island chain. The monks control all trade in the outer ocean. There are affiliated monasteries all over the East and West coasts of the Outer Sea. Certainly, they are found in every major trading city and port. Each of these is run by a brother of some distinction, known as a portmaster. He has about him underling monks who handle the day to day accounting, weighing, and customer service. These gentlemen have their finger on the scale and manage the economy of World Trade on Nuome. The Brotherhood are Masters of Science, medicine, astrology, biology, and Rune Magic.
Their Fleet is large. Their typical ship is sheathed in bronze and has three large masts. Most carry a machine of some sort that can fire bolts of lightning, just as their God does. In addition, these ships are protected by a Drake Warden, and sometimes more than one. These Drake Wardens Act as protectors, explorers, and investigators for Noranalashagedlaufinkol. They go inland and establish monasteries that are not near the coast. They look for Overland routes to new sources of income. These men investigate crimes that befall the monks of the Brotherhood, the ports, the ships, and, of course, the dragon himself. 
The Brotherhood of Noranalashagedlaufinkol has a firm grip on trade on the vast ocean which connects the major groups of continents. The strength of their men and ships are legendary. There is no reason to fear their destruction anytime soon, unless, well, there is that red dragon.
