Ilainaleln Geographic Location in Novanati Reborn | World Anvil

Ilainaleln (Il-ayn-ahl-eln)

Where it begins.

Written by littletoes101

Ilainaleln, translating to "Land of the Beginning Times", is technically the first continent on Novanati, and the place where all newcomers who are not born into the world come from. Through powers and ways largely unknown to the creatures of Novanati, new creatures seem to spawn here every now and again at random intervals of time. There is no rhyme nor reason for the spawning; it simply happens. As with the rest of Novanati, it extends infinitely downwards, which means that lack of space is not and never will be an issue for the animals who live here.

Geography

Ilainaleln is, overall, a land of beauty. Closely reminiscent to the wetter, more tropical regions of our world's Africa and South America, it is full of rainforests and great grassy plains. It connects to two other continents of the world, [continent1] in the North and [continent2] to the South. It has two large mountain ranges where the majority of the rivers flow from, and has a varied coastline. The beaches make an excellent vacation spot, especially during the months of Waterhelm and Quicksun, when the climate is at its most mild.

Fauna & Flora

The majority of the extinct species that live here are ones who thrive in wet environments, or who can adapt to be in wetter environments, as most of the land receives a high amount of rainfall, save for the mountains and the large stretches of grassland. Even the grasslands, however, receive a good bit of rain during the more extreme seasons of Sunflush and Darkhelm. The plant life is varied and diverse, ranging from small grasses to great towering old-growth trees. As with the rest of the world, there is plenty to support all of the creatures who live here, and not just because the country technically extends infinitely downwards.

Natural Resources

The main natural resource here are the precious gemstones which are mined from the earth in several different places on the continent. The old growth forests are heavily protected, considered national treasures, and there is little lumber to be exported outside of that, so wood is not a high export. While the land is fertile and good for growing food, the continent is better known for the precious gems it produces.
