Queen of Aelliria
Requirements
Must be married to the King. Aellirian law does not allow for Queens Regnant.
Appointment
A woman automatically becomes Queen of Aelliria upon her marriage to the King, or his ascension (whichever is last). However, she is considered the queen "officially" upon her coronation, which can only occur after the marriage to the king is consummated. The coronation is performed by the High Priestess of Aelliria.
Duties
The Queen's principal duty is to bear sons and heirs for her husband. However, past queens have been known to dedicate themselves to charitable works and/or influence cultural trends. Typically, an Aellirian queen is not involved in governance and politics, but they're not explicitly barred from doing so...
Benefits
Vast monetary/material and social benefits.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Queen's Jewels, plus orb/scepter for coronation and formal official ceremonies.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
She may be stripped of her title if she is convicted of adultery, but otherwise she is there for life. If she outlives her husband, she becomes Queen Mother a/o Queen Dowager.
Cultural Significance
This title is extremely well-respected both in Aelliria and abroad, although this can vary greatly depending on the woman holding the title. The Queen's style is often emulated by both nobles and commoners.
