The motivation behind building Norrath

Bringing great stories with a grounded fantasy feel for my players and friends to enjoy characters and tales that can dazzle and be remembered forever

The goal of the project

Memories with friends, talking about moments we all experienced as if they were real and as true as they moments in life that will never be forgotten!

Cohesive narrative, player driven, expansive and immersive world where players can make real change that will be seen across games as their heroes become legends

Theme

Genre

Evolving High Fantasy, technology fits sporadically with inspiring tales. Heroic characters pop up and spark world change as they tell the stories supported by heroic NPCs with similar but limited impact on the greater world around them.

Reader Experience

I want the world to feel grand and real while magic and fantastic features and creatures exist. Epic Lord of the Rings tales with colorful, memorable characters, and powerful fantasies that emphasize an comic book / anime level of capabilities that can inspire awe in players

Reader Tone

Dark to middle ground toughness. horrible and wonderous things do happen to regular people. but that is of course how stories are made. an average person would like be witness to a few instances of what they might consider miracles even if that is a low level hero passing by and offering healing to a sick man, or a fighter that slayed the troll in a single blow with a fiery weapon.

Recurring Themes

Inspiration from many  media outlets and drive from the players to tell personal character driven arcs and narratives. my style has evolved as I developed as a story teller and game master. recurring themes are basic as a group coming together to overcome great evils. Moral dilemmas are used as more background or smaller arcs to help a character grow, I do not use them as the main theme to force constant questions of right or wrong or good and evil. It is never hard for the players to know if they are the good guys or the bad guys

Character Agency

They are the driving force to change in the world. I set things in motion and its the characters actions that choose how far those motions carry on. Their action can and have shaped nations!
