The most important tool in the pocket of any mage, it is the key to society in Cantumland. This article refers to high quality modern wisthread, and all properties listed assume a pure wist that was pulled professionally. Simple Wisthread can be found in a much wider variety of shapes and forms, and each style has a few niche benefits, though none compare to the versatility of the modern wisthread.

Material Characteristics

Wisthread comes in many sizes and textures, but the average length is of similar quality to rough spun twine. It emanates a gold field of wist around it, of again varying size and consistency.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Indestructible, unless cut by a blade forged from Meteormettle. When damaged it instead balances out the damage onto the mage it is connected to, however this connection cannot destroy the thread without killing the mage. Even after the death of the mage, much of the damage will be reflected out onto the local wistfield, draining the wist of the area.

Origin & Source

Wist collects in the base of the stomach, and is processed by the intestine.

Life & Expiration

Upon death, the wisthread can be still manipulated by the lingering consciousness of the mage it came from, however this mere echo of a mind cannot repair the thread, and it will eventually tangle into a useless ball of twisted and frayed thread.
