Khuralaa Earldom

The Earldom does have a lot of people how fled the Alasafa Earldom

Demography and Population

147,000 people live in the Earldom.   About 20,000 of the people originally come from Alasafa.  These people tend to live on the coast especially in and around the capital Umeiyah.  The further they are from Alasafa the safer they feel.

Territories

The Earldom has an area of 16,000 sq km.  Inland is a temperate rain forest with lots of good timber.  The coastline is dotted with small fishing villages

Foreign Relations

Not foreign, but relations with the neighbouring Earldom of Alasafa is tense at the best of times.   A good portion of the population in Khuralaa originally come from Alasafa.  The Earl of Alasafa did not give permission for the people to leave.   From time to time parties of sheriffs from Alasafa enter Khuralaa to grab 'escaped' Alasafans.  This adds to the tension between the two earldoms.

Agriculture & Industry

Fishing and timber are the main industries   Umeiyah is a larger city because it is the main port via which the Alasafa Salt Mine salt is exported.   The high quality of the timber also means Umeiyah is a major shipbuilding centre.

Trade & Transport

Most transportation is by sea out of the capital Umeiyah.  It is only the salt trade that keeps the road from Alasafa Earldom busy.   This road is maintained by the Earl of Alasafa.
