The Wyrd tree is a massive Seqeua Tree tree that can be found in ELvenhome. It is the oldest known tree of that type, and is one of the great Elder Trees of Elvenhome which has been infused with True Elven Magic and has gaine da type of sentience. Like most sequea it exists in the prime material plane as well as the ethereal plane. Is has strong connection to the Fae realm, as well as to all the other Sequea trees on Nor. It is considered the wisest of the Great Elder Trees. Due to its age, it knowledge goes back thousands of years and it seems to know of things that happen even far from the Fae Forests. Many Elves, and even non-elves in the past, have made pilgrimages to the tree for knowledge.
Like other sentient Elder Trees, the Wyrd Tree can communicate with living beings. Touching the Tree and opening up ones self allows the tree to send visions to the one touching it. These vision are often cryptic but provide information of value to one touching it. This contact can be taxing to the mind though and the vision from the Wyrd Tree has been known to even cause permanent damage. If a person is properly prepared to converse with an Elder Tree they can often guide the visions they are shown, and gain more useful knowledge in a safe way. Very few have been able to interact with the Wyrd tree without month of training.
The tree is so important to the elves that a group was created to tend and interact with the tree. The The Wyrd Sisterhood  is responsible for caring for the Wyrd tree and for managing access to the tree. They often work with prospective pilgrims and act as a layer of protection between them and the Wyrd tree. The pilgrim will ask the question to the Weyrd Mother, the leader of the sisterhood, and she will interact with the tree and provide what she can. When the person is not willing to do this, they will spend time with the pilgrim, and training them to converse in a way that won't damage their mind.
