Alternate Healing Rules (Heal Skill)

These rules are for low magic campaigns, or campaigns where Magical healing will be difficult to by.   A skilled herbalist can identify and gather mystical herbs, that when used by a skilled Healer can cure would almost like magic spells. These herbs are usually kept in a special Healer's Bag. A character with the heal skill can use the herbs to create healing effects. The different type of healing effect that can be created are below.   Minor Healing - Heal DC 5 - Heals 1d4+1. Heals one additional point of damage for each point the heal roll beats the DC by up to a maximum of +5. Herb Use: 25gp   Medium Healing - Heal DC 10 - Heals 1d6+1 Heals one additional point of damage for each point the heal roll beats the DC by up to a maximum of +10. Herb Use: 60gp   Major Healing - Heal DC 10 - Heals 1d8+1 Heals one additional point of damage for each point the heal roll beats the DC by up to a maximum of +15. Herb Use: 130gp   Superior Healing - Heal DC 10 - Heals 1d8+1 Heals one additional point of damage for each point the heal roll beats the DC by up to a maximum of +25. Herb Use: 275gp   Minor Restorative - Heal DC 15 - Restores 1pt of ability damage + 1 per 3 points the heal roll beats the dc by up to +5. Herb Use: 100gp   Restorative - Heal DC: 25. Effects: Heals all ability damage from one ability score. Herb Use: 400gp   Cure Disease - Heal DC: Equal to the DC of the disease. Effect: Cure one disease the character is suffering from. (This does not remove any ability damage) Herb Use: 20XDC in gold.   Neutralize Poison - Heal DC: Equal to the DC of the poison. Effect Cure one Poison the the Character is suffering from (This does not remove any ability damage). Herb Use: 20XDC   Heal DC increase +2 for each previous healing the subject has had used on him during the last day.  

Gathering Herbs

  A character with Profession Herbalist can gather his own herbs for use with Alternate healing. Use the following formula to determine how many GP worth of herbs an herbalist can gather for each 8 hour day spent gathering. (If an herbalist is gathering while traveling, he may gather half the amount.) GP = (Profession check + 10 - gather DC) per day. The Gather DC is determined by the following Terrain. DM may apply modifiers depending on conditions. if the roll beats the DC The character also has a change on finding a rare Herb. Roll on the chart below. For every 5 points the roll beats the DC by, the character may roll again on the chart.

Using Rare Herbs

  Rare herbs have a cost (If you want to purchase them from a shop) but are not included in the cost of a healing use. Instead one dose can be used to gain the listed effect. For thoes that are not use in healing rolls, they can instead be used to make poltices, draughts, etc. Standard DC to create. 15+ rarity Standard DC of effect 11+rarity. Standard Duration 1d4 rounds For every 5 you beat the DC you may increase the duration a step. (1d4r-1min-10mins-1hour-24 hours) For every points you beat the DC by you can increase DC of effect +1 per point)
