Cencala is the Archmagi and thus the Ruler of the city-state of Ill and the island of Coronkaé. His ascendency to the position of Archmagi came quietly at first in an era where the mystics of Ill were ruled by the Archmagi Xerxes before his death due to a series of mysterious events. When he ascended the 'throne' of Ill, everything changed, some say for worse some say for better. The fact remains that Cencala used all his influence and power to not only spawn a new species of Ava into the world, but he changed the very fabric of what made Ill (now Coronkaé) what it used to be. Before coming to power, years before that, Cencala was born in a small village in the ancient Duchy of Iscalia, now lost to the sands of time. He learned wild magic, blood magic and some even whisper that he learned to control the ancient magic of the dragons. But what was sure was that Cencala, from an early age, became proficient in the art of Necromancy, weaving the mist to create undead horrors to serve him. This eventually brought the wrath of the followers of Helm and their crusade against all that was evil, this was before Helm became a God. Cencala eventually fled to Ill to be able to continue his studies uninterupted and thus over time he became one of the greatest mistweavers in the known world.

Personal history
Cencala was born as the only child to his mother and father, the former died giving birth to him, at the tragic loss of his wife, Cencals father left the newborn child in the care of his oldest friend, Aleandel síol Geasa. Aleandel mistreated Cencala during his time growing up with him and essentially used the boy for slave labour. At the age of 200, a young age for any felya (which was his species until the blood ritual that changed him and his followers), Cencala fled and made the ardous journey towards the ancient kingdom of Leonia.
In Leonia he encountered Isabell, a mistweaver, whom took him in and allowed him to stay and rest his weary feet. After a month had passed, one night he heard Isabell in conversation seemingly with herself and when Cencala approached her chambers she called out his name before he could knock on her door. She presented Cencala with a dagger and told him that the great Necromancer Aaron, the first vampire, had stored his soul within this dagger and she offered the artefact to Cencala with the words that Aaron had been waiting for him. Upon taking the dagger Isabell drew her last breath and fell dead on the floor, she had fulfilled her purpose in this world.
Cencala kept the dagger close to him, always hearing it's whispers and thus learning many hidden secrets of the arts of Necromancy. Later on in life Cencala was serving under the Mad tyrant-king Dryst, ruler of Charakas and due to that service he encountered a woman named Heakatsani Virdon, a felya just like him whom he married. He also became close friends with Bifrost and Sodor, who both served under the tyrant in question. But when war was declared, Cencala lost everything. He, his wife and his friends were all part of a losing battle and was thus ordered to surrender their lives as forfeit because of their failure. Heakatsani sacrificed herself to allow the others to escape and in his fury Cencala released a horde of undead monstrosities that attacked the capital of Charakas.
While fleeing for their lives, Cencala, Bifrost and Sodor encountered Anskar whom joined them on their journey. And it was through Anskar and the Corir-hammer that Cencalas destiny was sealed. Cencala asked Anskar to destroy the artefact with his wondrous hammer and thus released the soul of Aaron into the world again. Aaron told Cencala to find him in the city of Ill when he was ready. At this time Cencala had become infamous in his old home of Charakas and a witchhunt, conducted by the templari Dhalia, ensued. This drove Cencala and his company all the way to the northern country of Norgard as a way to flee the persecution of Helm. On the way there, in the crevice of Zhem, it seemed that his journey would come to a swift end when the company was ambushed by Dhalia. But the mistweaver had learned many tricks during his lifetime and sacrificed his own lifeblood to summon a daemon to help him. This deamon told him that it's name was Tichandri and took up residence inside the right eye of Cencala.
Some years passed and during a visit to the island of Coistat Cencala sired a child with the cultist witch Seishenni whom he had encountered during his time in Charakas. This child would become the vessel in which Cencala transferred Tichandri who was infact Oghm the Destroyer. This was the final straw for Bifrost and Anskar, who were the two remaining companions that Cencala had and they banished him from their presence under the threat of death. It was at this time Cencala finally ventured to Ill to meet Aaron whom he felt was the only one that truly could understand him. When he came to Ill, he encountered Aaron in the flesh and started studying all the information that Aaron would provide for him. A centuary passed without Cencala making much of a fuss amongst the Magi of Ill, then came the day of his ascendency. The old Archmagi died from a simple wound that became infected and started rotting him from the inside, the wound had been caused by a common horse who had knocked Xerxes to the ground after being scarred by a brood of hens fleeing their hatchery from a fox. What was suspicious though was that the best healers on Ill couldn't cure this simple wound nor could the best trained Soulwanderers keep his spirit tethered to this world. Cencala presented himself as a candidate for the position of Archmagi and was met with a room full of snickering laughter.
But when the final votes were tallied, Cencala had won the election almost unanimously, with only 13 votes against him and 156 votes in his favor. Thus began the reign of Cencala, the Archmagi of Ill, whom on the day of ascension started to prepare the ritual that would change the face of Noordhland forever, thus the Tenelasan was born.

Cenala is educated in all forms of mistweaving you could imagine, he is also a strong practitioner of the soulwandering secrets as well as adept at titomancy. As such he is regared as one of the strongest mystics on the entire continent, unmatched by everyone except Cyrus. Beyond that Cencala has had millennia to learn all kinds of secrets.

He created the once in an eon blood-ritual that would remove the Felya curse from those that followed him and would change any Ava into the new species known as the Tenelasan. This is his greatest achivement as of yet.

Religious Views
Cencala hates religion and all Gods, with only a few exceptions. He views himself as a scientist who has divined the wisdom of how the cosmos works and as such he views Gods as just a different form of life, ascended beings from the other planes of existence, whom get power from their worshipers. When he figured out that any godchilder could harness the power of faith from followers, he started to realize that if the people of Coronkaé (and beyond) worshiped him, he could reach new frontiers of magical research. Thus Cencala views himself as some sort of God.

History
Dhalia has hunted Cencala for countless generations, a perk of being an immortal servant of Helm. Over the many centuaries of conflict some sort of frenemy relation has evolved. They don't hate each other anymore, it's more of a situation where it's better to know you enemy than having someone new to worry about.
Nicknames & Petnames
Cencala calls Dhalia, Grandmother Helm as a mockery to her age and religion. Dhalia on the other hand was the one who coined the nickname "The Heir (of Oghm)" which has followed Cencala through out the ages.

Cencala never thought he would marry again and he was determined to never have children since what happened between him, Seishenni and Oghm. But then he met Isolde and made her is "Queen" to rule Coronkaé at his side. Which suited Isolde very well as at that time it was getting harder and harder to maintain the masquerade of being mortal... Isolde is now known colloquially as the Vampire Queen of Ill.

The marriage came first out of necessity and lust for power from both parts, but eventually became true love.
