Constellations

"Most people think the constellations can show fates and destinies. From our research and investigations, we have found that they do a lot more than that. The simplest way to explain them is that they make new fates and destinies."
— Suzanna Rizzari, head of the DSI
The constellations are an arrangement of stars. Most constellations don't actually do anything. Any purpose they may have is one given by Humans who feel they are powerless against the world. But when some stars are extremely close together, they can form astral linkages which can create all sorts of interesting effects. Many planets are known to have been influenced by the more powerful constellations.   Some of the most powerful constellations have stars at their most powerful point in their lifespan. The linkages are stronger in these constellations and can affect solar systems in many ways. They can affect planetary orbits or alter some geographical features. Spaceships are careful not to travel in areas with strong astral links, because it can interrupt their navigational charts and get them lost in space. For this reason, many planets have some kind of space meteorologist to predict the weather patterns and study the shifting astral links.

The Solastra

The Solastra is the most powerful constellation in the Galaxy. Unlike other constellations, the stars are not close to each other in space. They are, however, large and have a strong gravitational pull. This pull is what forms the Galaxy's solar systems. Each main star in all the solar systems have very strong astral links with each other, forming the Solastra constellation.   The Solastra is the reason many sentient beings have psionic powers throughout the Galaxy. But it is not yet known why Humans do not get powers when other species do.
