Frontier Castle

Frontier Castle, so named because of its interdimensional properties, is located in Mirror Lakes, in Oviki, South Halved Isle. Its sister castle, Edgington Castle, is located on Earth, in East Sussex, England. Together the two form a portal between Mirror Lakes and Earth.
Before the castle's construction, the land it was built on was dangerous. People who ventured onto it could end up anywhere in any dimension. The castle was built in an effort to contain and assert some control over the portal. Each castle acts as a doorway and homing beacon, so anyone who travels through the portal always ends up in the other castle.
The portal itself enables those who travel throught it to comprehend and speak the dominant local language on the other side like a native--currently English on one end and Kozig the other. There is a common joke in Oviki and the surrounding area that visitors and immigrants not fluent in Kozig only need to visit the castle, visit Earth and come back again, and they'll be able to speak Kozig like a native. However this is only a joke and not encouraged for real.
The castle was built before the land laws were passed. At the time, the land the castle was built on had passed out of ownership long ago. When the laws were passed, it was claimed by Vei the Intrepid, who then founded Oviki.
