Irzen City

The looming fortress that lies within the Arode Desert has been fighting off the constant threat of undead invasion for centuries. Irzal is the renowned center of both combat and fine metal arts.

Demographics

Irzal's population consists of many different species, the main ones being the Arosian draconians, copper and golden talos, humans, and even some naiads that started to populate a large nearby oasis. Almost everyone that travels to and settles in the city do so for one of two reasons: for an apprenticeship in jeweling, or for purpose of combat training. As such, a large portion of the populace works either as a goldsmith, a soldier, or a mercenary.

Defences

The desert city has many defences to assure against attack, mainly against skeletons. The walls are nearly 2 meters thick, comprised entirely of reinforced sandstone. Towers line these walls, and allow for archers to take aim and fire from a high vantage point, and massive bronze gates charged with Fire magic are ready to be closed at any moment.

Industry & Trade

Irzen stays running on its metalwork and military industry. Unlike that of Eluroc, the golem's city, Irzen's smithing usually consists of art and adornment rather than power or convinience. The most popular metals here are bronze and gold, though it is not unheard of for the desert's jewelers and casters to use silver or platinum. As for combat, the "official" services that the city provides are training for becoming a soldier, whether it be for Irzen or any other city. However, in the shadier parts of the city, killers for hire do make themselves available.

Infrastructure

A large network of aqueducts runes through the city in order to distribute water across to its residents. These aqueducts were once open, but after an unfortunate sandstorm, and the town's water system ran dry for 2 months, the pipes were covered in order to prevent a similar incident from happening.

Districts

As one would imagine, all of the combat training and practice in the city are usually separated from daily life. Many barracks and armories are positioned near the east and west gates of the city, in order to maximize attention to possible dangers to the city. Aside from that, the other distinct difference in areas or districts is the market sector of Irzen, placed in the city's center. This bazaar is where all manners of products are sold, from blades to pendants to the desert's confectionary goods.

Assets

Irzen's kingdom itself is incredibly wealthy, having made money off of the export of gold and elemental bronze. These metals are also materials that lie within the city's stores, though they are typically used for weapons of magic rather than trade.
