Highwall

Highwall is a growing Town and some would call it a small city. The Central Market is always full of travelers and local villagers looking to buy or sell their goods. It is the central hub of the Highwall area and home to the Lord Barron and his family.

Demographics

90% Human, 5% Dwarf, 1% Wood Elf, 4% Half-Elf

Government

Lord Barron Landar Hornraven is the current ruler of Highwall and the Highwall area. The day to day running of the town is done by Mayor Relin Thain, appointed by the Barron. The Mayor chooses his council which is made up of the Sheriff, and local business owners and guild leaders. The Barron works with the town council and Mayor to establish laws, raise taxes, and judicates over any criminal proceedings. The Barron can over ride any law form in order to promote the Kings interest or to establish laws enacted by the King.

Defences

Highwall is surrounded by a 150 foot white stone wall, which included 4 battlements and towers, two main gates with portcullises and large oak doors. The town has 75 local guards run by the Sheriff, and a small contingent of Red Cloak Royal military soldiers, about 700. In times of need the town can call up 500 local militia to help defend the wall.

Industry & Trade

Most of the population of Highwall is made up of farmers, sheep hearders, and tobacco growers. There is a small population that works in the woodmill just outside of town.

Infrastructure

Woodmill, Central town market, Grainery, Stonemill, several Water Wells, three local forges, two major Highways run into Highwall. The Kings Highway which runs North and South, and the Merchant Highway which runs East and West. The town supports a large loom house, sewers, and paved roads throughout.

Two Jack's Lane Inn and Tavern. 4. The wondering Minstrel   Highwall is also known for it's trade and it's location brings in several traveling merchants to the town each year. Highwall has a money changer as well due to the high traffic of other countries coin which flows from the Merchant trade.

Guilds and Factions

Several guilds have a home in Highwall. Most notably is the Merchant Guild. Miller Guild, Blacksmith Guild, and the Quarry Guild.

History

Architecture

Most home are made of mud wood and straw, then plastered and washed white. The roofs are made from thatch, though the more affluent have colored tile roofs signifying the wealthy status. The Central market is made up of one and two story building of the same type, with larger Inns being mostly made of timber and standing taller at three or four stories high. The Barron's manner is a large estate located close to the Central market and has two large columns and steps leading to the front. The estate has an array of buildings for servants, stables, gardens, and guest houses. It is one of the main features you see upon entering the town.

Geography

Highwall is located next to the East Wood, and west of the Arguine River. Grasslands and farm fields surround Highwall in a 10 mile area.

Natural Resources

Highwall's natural resources include Lumber, Wool, Tobacco, Grain, cattle, and a stone Quarry in the neighboring village of Shale Rock.
